Larry joined sports in Spring Valley high school to try to forget about his family problems.
His basketball skills won him a scholarship to college at Indiana University. He however only studied for one month before dropping out. Larry joined another institution in French lick for one year and later went back to Indiana state university.
He found peace here and joined the basketball team. His team became the first one to join the NCCA tournament in the school. Their match with Michigan State became the first to have the highest views. He completed his studies in 1979.
Career Life and Net Worth
His career started in his final year at the university. Boston Celtic booked him when he was in college but he decided to finish his studies first. His agent helped him negotiate with the NBA draft, which had declined to pay him more than other players. Larry’s agent threatened that Joe would join the 1979 draft. They agreed on his term, and he signed a five-year contract. The deal amounted to $3.25 million.
The success he brought to the team was worth his pay. He brought much success to the team, including more than 100 wins over other groups. The Celtic team ranked high in conference finals, thanks to Larry. He played for the team until it was time for him to retire in 1992.
Larry is not much open about his financial status. The only record available is that his net worth is $75 million. Most of his wealth is from his career as a basketball player and coach.
Larry is a family man. His first marriage with Janet did not work though they had a daughter in 1977. They first broke up a year after their wedding and then reconciled. Later they even got a divorce, and he married again in 1989 and adopted two children.
