Delonte West was born on July 6, 1983, in Washington, DC. He holds American nationality and is multiracial. His parents are Dmitri West and Delphina Addison.

He was raised together with his siblings, Dmitri West Jr. and Danielle West. Delonte grew in a set up whose description he gave as poor but filled with happiness.

He was schooled at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, and he proceeded to Saint Joseph’s University. His talent as a basketballer was realized and nurtured during his high school years.

He led both institutions that he studied at to victory in inter-school basketball tournaments.

His career was established as early as his high school years and enhanced throughout his college years. In 2004, West left St. Joseph’s after his selection to join Boston Celtics, and he was picked to be in the 2oo4 NBA draft.
